Life with Teenagers

Parents of young children, do not despair. Soon they will grow up and you will find yourselves with unexpected evenings free, although the timing may not be good.

We thought everyone would be home tonight. However... Frank's drummer friend called, said a really good guitar player was coming over and could Frank (bass) come too (35 miles away). So he's gone. And Ernest's friend called...could he come over...yes, he could eat there (because I haven't even started dinner yet). Ernest's riding his bike but we don't have enough C batteries for his bike light so he will stop at the hardware store on his way.

You'd think this would be a green light for a lovely romantic dinner, but ...I'm sneezing and the HH's car project has been enticing seducing bugging obsessing keeping him busy him all day and he is in the garage, all filthy and sweaty.

So...leftovers or takeout????

UPDATE: Crap, neither. Apparently, I'm still cooking.

I totally get this. Always last minute on nights we aren't up to anything special. On nights we'd like to , say, have a bottle of wine - we have to drive her...2 more years and we are an empty nest!

WHAAAA? Neither? I would have voted for take out for what it's worth.

I'm just afraid for the day when Zack no longer WANTS to do anything with me. Then I'll look back at being pecked like a duck and having those nerves plucked and miss them.

That sounds like it would have been the perfect opportunity for take-out and a chick-flick. Or a great book and a quilt on the couch.

Is there anything worse than thinking you're getting out of the whole dinner thing and then finding out you have to cook?? Hate that.

I'm usually running about 30 minutes late and sometimes i'll forget that i hadn't done rice earlier in the day...or that we have no meat...or.....
grrr.
thank goodness BLTs are okay with my boys...personally, i'd have them 4 or 5 times a week if we could.
and leftovers? those are for Sundays....they can count on 'em!
