Flu Shot

Yesterday our school provided flu shots in the nurse's office. So I got a flu shot, because it was so convenient. I don't think I've ever had one. I also haven't had the flu in over 5 years.

I was also starting to come down with a cold -- you know, the usual sore throat and runny nose.

Now, not only do I have the cold and cough, I also have symptoms of a reaction to the flu shot:

From the CDC website. "The viruses in the flu shot are killed (inactivated), so you cannot get the flu from a flu shot. Some minor side effects that could occur are: Soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given, fever (low grade), aches." Yep, got all 3.

I'm sending Ernest to pick up take-out for dinner.

Oh dear. But at least you won't get the flu, which is far far worse. Hope you feel better soon!

The minor symptoms sound exactly like flu to me! Feel better soon!

You are never, never supposed to get a flu shot when you feel the least bit sick. Your compromised immune system means you might get the flu from the shot.

My doctor said what I got sick with was not the flu but a particularly nasty respiratory virus. I don't know how long I'll have to wait for my flu shot now.

Feel better soon--this sickness business is no fun at all.

Well, the CDC website said do not get the shot if you have a "moderate-to-severe illness with a fever," and I didn't at the time.

Anyway, I am feeling way better this morning!

My allergies are giving me flu-like symptoms. And I have a big craft show this weekend, so after hanging out with a billion people and handling dirty icky money (ack) I'm positive I'll be sick next week.

Just watch. I'll get the Ick.
