The Ominous Burbling

No I did not have the sh!t geyser that plagued Aunt Snow.

I heard an ominous burbling from one of the toilets, though. That always signifies trouble. I ran into the master bath to see water surging up out of the drain.  This has happened before and flooded the whole bathroom, fortunately only with gray water (shower/washer) and not the black stuff. This time, miraculously, it subsided before it overflowed.  So we called Mr. Rooter and they cleaned out the line.

We had half of the sewer line replaced a few years ago, but there is still an old clay section from the driveway to the street and that's where the roots creep in.  One more thing to fix someday.

What needs fixing at your place?

Gah! I have the same dang thing. My pipes aren't old (they were new when the house was built in 2000) but there are old cottonwood roots everywhere. Our tubs fill with sewage if too much water goes down at once--the washer draining plus a flush, for example.) E-how says, that plus gurgling toilets mean the main line is clogged, probably with roots. This homeowner nonsense is no fun sometimes. The plumber is coming soon.

Every spring we need to replace sprinkler heads that broke over the winter. (I didn't drive on any this winter, so that's good!) We actually have a sprinkler leak way underground that is slow/low enough that we're just leaving it as-is. Sometimes fixing isn't the best option.

At this very moment, my son is attempting to repair the garage door. If he can't get it repaired I may never be able to go anywhere in that car again, and that means (among other things) I will not be able to buy the ingredients for pie for Friday.

The 1948 sink in the boys' old bathroom. Unfortunately, parts are not made for it anymore and it will have to be replaced. Not happy about this at all.

Oh that bites, roots can be such a problem.
Here we have a leaky faucet and a jammed up doorknob on our main door--LIFT if you want to come in!

The plumbing stuff stresses me out most because it's one of those things that's a total mystery to me, so I feel helpless when something happens.
