Fruit Schmoot

We had a potluck lunch meeting at work. Fruit salad, that's easy enough.

Whoa! Six bucks for some grapes? What are Holiday grapes? $4 for a melon? This turned into a pricy little dish at a total of $15.14! And what makes it worse? Less than 1/4 of it was eaten.

Family, we're going to be eating fruit salad for a long long time.

  1. Sorry, I wouldn't eat cantaloupe even if you paid me! And they grow them here, big time. I may get kicked out of the county for my admission!!

  2. Ai yi yi. If it makes you feel any better, grapes are more expensive in Virginia this time of year.

  5. I don't know what holiday grapes are...did they taste like cinnimon or gingerbread??? But the $6.00 charge was actually for the bananas, not the mysterious grapes. Are bananas really that expensive???

  6. Anon, the bananas were only $0.74.

  7. oy. i made a fruit salad once with kebab sticks and it was a hit. it's amazing how it will fly off the plate if you just add a stick.

  8. I was recently charge $7 at Target for one serving of fresh green beans. Luckily it was a mistake, they had something else on the scale while they were weighing the beans. Unfortunately I didn't catch it until I got home and looked at the receipt more closely.

  9. Do holiday grapes have seeds and that's why they're expensive, hah!

I don't miss for one tiny minute pot luck lunches. It was always one of my least favorite things...but please don't tell any of the fabulous cooks I used to work with.

  10. Sister, the Matron spent nearly eight bucks on some coleslaw today. Want to hear something more terrifying? She's married to a realtor.
