While I would love to try more new things, here are some old things I'm not doing any more.
- Shave my legs. This is not because I'm some earthy kind of person, it's that they just don't have hair anymore.
- Balance my checkbook. I was delighted to give this up a couple years ago, after I realized what a waste of time it was for me. I only write a few checks a month, so the balance on the bank website is pretty accurate.
- Cut out Boxtops for Education. I used to be a little obsessive about saving them, thinking if I throw it away it's like I'm throwing away a dime. And who wants to throw away money? (My husband has, but that's a different story.)* But then the school did not even collect them last year. So why bother?
- Make a grocery list. This is new! I don't have to keep a written list because my darling iPhone does it for me.
I wonder what else I could stop doing? What have you given up?
*I use the ashtray in the car to hold things...sometimes trash, sometimes spare change. Like about $2.37 in change from In'n'Out -- they were using $1 coins that day. So he literally threw away money when he cleaned out my car and, without looking, dumped the contents of the ashtray in the garbage. Yes, I discovered it and fished the coins out of the garbage can. I'm not proud. I used those dollar coins on the next trip to In'n'Out.
I am with you on not balancing the checkbook. I'm so glad that I don't have to do it anymore.
ReplyDeleteI have hypothyroidism, and when my medication needs to be adjusted, the hair on my legs stops growing.

ReplyDeleteThe hair on my legs doesn't grow as quickly as it used to, but I swear the slack is taken up by the chin whiskers! So, while I spend less time shaving my legs, I do spend more time than I'd ever have imagined dethatching my chin. Yay.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could stop shaving my legs. I'm half-yeti. I have stopped trying to read the newspaper cover to cover.
ReplyDeleteI find the same thing with my leg hair. Is it age? Post-menopausal hormones?
ReplyDeleteThe woman at my local pedicure spa complimented me on my smooth legs - I haven't shaved them in years!
Oh, and yeah, Lala, same here with the chin and upper lip whiskers.
ReplyDeleteI still collect boxtops--I have teacher friends to give them too. My one friend's school does a teacher contest where they can win two nights at a hotel, so I try to give them to her.
