After we dropped off our luggage, we headed out armed with a map. I am the official map reader and navigator. We walked around Grafton Street (a pededestrian shopping street), St. Stephen's Green, and went to the National Museum - Archeology. That was very interesting. They had bog bodies. Real bodies that were discovered preserved in peat bogs. After dinner at Hugo's, a cozy wine bar, we walked back through Grafton Street. The Christmas lights were still on, giving it a fairyland appearance.
This interesting shop was on the way back to the hotel. Sorry folks, the knobs and knockers it refers to are the ones that go on your front door.
That's me in the yellow jacket. Here's a sartorial tip for you: Do not wear your bright yellow Costco ski parka in Dublin. You will be the only one in yellow. Everone else will be wearing black or other dark colors. (I was so tempted to buy a black wool coat, but would I ever wear it at home? Nope. Because it was 80 degrees here yesterday.)
This pub was across from our hotel. Note the puddle of vomit on the sidewalk? I unknowingly stepped in it. Someone did a bit too much pub-hopping that night (not us!).

Jen mentioned that when she came to the UK, that we dress far more sombrely over here. I hadn't noticed but as you both mentioned it...
I was just about to say something similar to Guider's comment. We definitely stuck out in London, as we were the only people not in black, gray, or navy blue. Seriously, the next time I'm in England or Europe, we're all ditching our bright colors.
BTW, your links to the bog people led me down a fun little sidetrack...
I have my grey and black European wardrobe that is always ready to go!
We went to Dublin in May and stayed at the Shelbourne Hotel. DOTR had a great time hanging out at Trinity College just watching the students play cricket on the green.
Mom on the Run -- Wow, the Shelbourne! That looked quite posh!
Cheri - that's me, just trying to keep it real!
The Irish do like their drink!
I love Dublin... one of my favorite cities and I am hard at work planting the seed of, "Semester Abroad at Trinity University" into my eldest child's handsome little head.
We also stayed at the Shelbourne in what was then known (and maybe still is?) as The Grace Kelly Suite... complete with butler! Oh, upgrades, how we love thee.
Sorry about the puke, but isn't international vomit so much more glamorous than hometown vomit? ;-)
Nice pics! Except for the yak.
I don't believe I've ever seen a photo of Irish vomit. Thank you. I think.
I am lol @ the yellow coat. Hey, at least people would see you crossing the street. :)
Poor you with that puddle! I didn't know about the "somber" colors, but I would fit right in since I usually wear black.
Never wear bright colors in Europe! But a jacket is better than pants.
EEWWWW on the puke.
And WOW! on the bog bodies.
