My great-grandfather worked in the Chucks factory in Massachusetts mos tof his life :) The 2 pairs that I have? The wife bought them BOTH for me in summer 1992 AND I wear them still...stamped "Made in USA".... btw, it was YOu who reminded me to bake my fruit tarts yesterday, I was trying to remember who had inspired me to dig it up, thanks!
One of my girls wears Chucks nearly every day. One pair has been loved in the past year that I needed to buy super glue while we were on vacation and do a little repair work on flapping rubber pieces.

You know how we feel about Chucks here. My daughter wore them to get married in! As did all the guys in the bridal party, including my husband.
He sure gets his money's worth out of them.
