The Mermaid Project

I had a lot of fun making the mermaid's tail for the book store's April window. (Celebrating Hans Christian Andersen, whose birthday was April 2).

I cut out so many scales! It seemed endless.

I could not get a good picture of how sparkly it was!

Alas, I also forgot to get a picture of it in the window. I kept meaning to go by and take one at night. There is so much glare on the windows in the daytime.

Well, April came and went and we changed the window. I was going to put scales on the backside so we could hang it in either direction in the children's area, but when I brought it home and put it in my crafts/sewing/art room, it looked so pretty and matched the bed decor so perfectly. So I may have to keep it for myself! I will have to do a bit of tidying though.

Pizza

There was a time when I swore I'd never make pizza again. I could probably find that post here in my archives but it's not necessary.

As with the idea of having children, times change. Funny thing, my now grown children have helped me overcome my fear of making pizza.

Ernest gave me a great dough recipe.

This is Frank's baking stone. And his favorite combo, pepperoni/sausage with pesto sauce.

On the left we have a cabernet salami/red pepper, and on the right a veggie melange. I think these ingredients came from Trader Joe's.

Thank you sons for helping me to overcome fear.

Morning Parade

This isn’t even the full parade.

Where’s meow food, they lament.

And they were probably already fed an hour ago.

Fun With Food

Sometimes I am just silly and play with my food.

Kibbling Up

The boys had to go without food overnight as their sister was restricted due to a pending dentistry. Although she doesn't really eat their food, we didn't want to take chances.

The boys are supposed to be losing a bit of weight, anyway.

They were ever so grateful when the kibble dishes reappeared with their meager portions. Hunter is at the wrong dish, though.

Cool Catz Confusion

Harry and Leo being orange, they often remind me and Handy of a cartoon character we remember from the 70s, Top Cat. So we call them both Top Cat for fun.

We were trying to remember what Top Cat wore. I thought a straw hat, but Handy correctly remembered it was a pork pie hat (like Walt on Breaking Bad!).

We didn't remember what he wore. Was it cuffs? No, it was a vest:

So who wore the cuffs? Snagglepuss! I always thought he had a striped blazer.

You can see my memories are completely confused because here is the straw hat and blazer.

Cat puzzle

This was a fun Christmas gift from Ernest's girlfriend. Harry liked it too.

Frank’s Sushi

Frank is really couragous in the kitchen, often trying new things. A couple weeks ago he made sushi.

It was delicious. He said it was a lot of work, but I think he might try it again.

Piano Practice

My teacher is a delight, and so supportive, but it still feels like this. It always sounds better at home.

Yawn

Frank took this stunning photo of Francine aka Fifi. Hmmm. Frank. Francine. Is it any wonder he’s her favorite person?

Pasta Bowl

I make this thing I just call "Pasta Bowl" with pasta, sausage, garlic, tomatoes, Parmesan, and whatever veg I find handy, all tossed together in a beautiful big bowl someone gave me. This batch had some leftover pesto. Well, look what I saw at Costco today, with basically the same ingredients. I can make this for less than $17.69!

Appropriate

Merry Christmas!

The orangesicle boys were holding to a steady one ornament a day, but then they tapered off and its been a few days without incident. The novelty has worn off for them.

Turduckens

I've always wanted to get a turducken. So expensive though.

Not this year. We are going to do something different, though. Frank has decided to cook a goose. We will have fun all day saying "Your goose is cooked!"

Black & White

One of the orangesicle cats actually took my black pants out of the laundry basket and slept on them. Not the yellow towel which would have been a perfect color match but their white fur all over my black pants. I could not even lint-roll them clean. Silly babies.

Fractals

I love the fractals of the romanesco! Its orange companion was called cheddar.

You can make a delicious colorful gratin with these. See my cooking blog for Cauliflower Mascarpone Gratin.  The original recipe was from Family Style Food

Thank you NaBloPoMo

I’m feeling unwell today. The queen of worst case scenarios says e coli but logical brain says not. We’ll see what tomorrow brings. December already!

I have enjoyed my month of daily posting. Whether or not I keep it up is another story, but it's been fun.  See ya around.

Signs of Xmas

It's after TG. It's allowed now!

Found this on a rare WalMart visit. $6.92! Such an odd amount.

This shirt too!

I channeled my inner Grinch for the book store's window.

This looks pretty festive. Unfortunately, the red tortilla was stale.
