Heading south, we passed by Castroville, the Artichoke Capital. I'm not always impressed by all those "Capital of" places since I live in one, but the artichokes were magnificient. We bought some.
So were the bananas, but we didn't buy any.
Handy offered to pull over so I could take this picture. That's unusual. He usually doesn't like to interrupt his driving with stopping to look at things. I've learned to live with it.
Here's the Point Sur lighthouse.
There are tours on the weekends, but we were driving by on a Monday.
However, we did stop for a delicious lunch at Nepenthe, a place we'd been driving by for years. Check their website for some interesting stories.
The view was quite nice.
So was the other view.
The phoenix rises.
Let them eat cake.
We'll have pie. Banana cream pie, to make up for the bananas we didn't buy earlier.
After I digest, I'll continue the trip.

Lovely! You're making me yearn for a road trip. Thanks for letting me tag along on yours!
When in Castroville, your Magical S-I-L has been known to buy a bag of the tiny artichokes, steam them and eat them whole.

Hi, I've been off-line, or off-blogging, or off my rocker for a while, and it was super cool to be able to join your road trip and feel the imaginary coastal wind in my hair!
artichokes and lighthouses are some of my favorite things.
Again, wow. Your photos are amazing and what perfect weather you had!
Oh, my! It looks like you are having a wonderful time!!! Aren't we lucky to live in California?
Try the spritz - you'll like it!!
Beautiful!
I hope you have a 'Zany' week
:-)

What a lovely drive and a great view!
We went to the coast but it wasn't as picturesque as your trip. I did, however, take a picture of eggs frying in a pan... on the campfire grill. Obviously, I am envious! :)
Pie?
