Saturday PhotoHunt: Barbie

I see in the news that Barbie isn't doing so well any more.  Too much junky pink stuff, in my opinion. I loved Barbies when I was a kid. I had a big dollhouse at my father's house. At home, I also made elaborate rooms from cardboard boxes.

For a period of time as an adult, I acquired the "collectible" ones that live in their boxes.

These are a few of my favorites.

I'm sure little girls today don't play Barbies the way we did. My best friend and I had a small handful of Barbies and her/their various friends and sisters…elaborate ongoing story lines…making clothes and furniture for them all…a stable full of Breyer horses...it's a cliche to say those were simpler times, but they really were. Sigh.

Barbie definitely knows how to play guitar.

I loved Barbie when I was a kid. A friend of mine would come over and we would throw all our collective Barbie clothes in a big pile on the floor and take about an hour picking out clothes, taking turns. When that was over we played with them for about five minutes. I can still see that pile of doll clothes sitting between us.....

I agree with Jenny. They were simpler times. Just less of everything made it a bit better, didn't it?

I also loved Barbies and I agree with everything said here. They used to just come with the doll and you had to use your imagination to come up with who your barbie would be. If you were lucky you got the dream house or the car but we always made our rooms out of boxes too. The neighborhood barbie playing sessions were epic!
