This weeks prompt, hosted by Carmi at Written, Inc., is "Weathered and Worn."
I don't know how many times we passed this tumbledown shack on our daily drive. Now that my son is driving himself to school, I really miss the time we spent in the car and the sights we saw from the windows.

Weathered and worn, but it still looks lived-in, yes?
My 16yo still hasn't scheduled his driving exam, so I'm seeing plenty of run-down houses here in town.
At least it makes for an interesting picture! I wonder why we're so drawn to pictures of abandoned buildings?
it's so true about the little things making the most memories, eh? What a way to raise up the status of this building ;)
Personally, I love old buildings. They just make me want to break out the tools and bring them back to life. Great picture.
Old buildings speak to the story tellers (and listeners) within us.

All this needs to be perfect is a whisp of smoke coming out of the chimney on the right.
I bet we're kindred spirits--I never met an old building I didn't like.
Great prompt--the pics have been fun.
There have been lots of lovely old buildings for this theme - this one is a beauty! That righ-hand piece does look as if it could still be inhabited...
Great old place - there do seem to be a lot of them in the US ! ;)
Certainly a great addition to this weeks theme.
Congrats on reaching and surviving another of your sons milestones. Not so sure my hubby will make it to the finish line teaching our sixteen year old grandson to drive. He is about ready to call a driving school.
I miss that car-time, too. One of those touchstones of life that I'm sure your son will miss, as well.
Lovely capture, especially given the context of how this place came to touch your family's life. Neat.
