*Homer's white blood count is high, so he has some kind of infection that hasn't been determined yet. Since his cancer meds are immunosuppressants, the vet thought it would be good to start him on antibiotics right away. It is usually easier to give him liquids than pills, but wouldn't you know it, we quickly discovered this is not the case with the antibiotic. Five mils of sticky viscous cherry flavored goo were more than enough to traumatize him. He took off like a shot, or maybe a surface to air missile, over the couch, red goo all over his fur, voiding his bladder in the process. Needless to say, we got the pills instead. They turned out to be tiny enough to hide in a dollop of cream cheese, so everyone is happy now.

Poor Homer! And you. I'm sorry I laughed but your "surface to air missile" comparison? Well, I couldn't help it. I hope the weekend goes more smoothly. XO
Oy! What a clusterfluff...
"Surface to air missile" indeed, with leaking fuel tank...
Isn't that the way these projects go -- you start off doing one thing, then you realize that other things need doing, and so on.
Poor Homer! And your couch :-)
We have to give Gwen a quarter of a tiny pill for blood pressure, and so far the only way we can her to take is to crush it to a powder between two spoons and thoroughly mix it with wet food. It's amazing how she can around things, and spit the pill back out if it's not crushed!
UGH! One thing totally led to another, didn't it? Poor cat. Medicating the felines is never fun.
Cream cheese to the rescue. We've also been able to get a cat or two to take pills using those soft pill pocket treats. Gus was the only cat I've ever had who would willingly take his meds. I think he knew they helped him. Plus, he was just generally awesome. Sending good thoughts your and Homer's way!
